Camden domestic abuse support service wins national recognition
Camden Council’s domestic abuse support service is one of only nine organisations in the UK to be accredited.
Camden Safety Net has gained accredited status through Leading Lights, a national standards programme for Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) services.
The service provides support for women and men in the borough who have experienced or are experiencing domestic and sexual abuse.
The Leading Lights programme is run by the national independent domestic abuse charity CAADA. The programme provides an effective benchmark for supporting victims of severe domestic abuse, ensuring that they receive the same level of service, regardless of where they are in the country.
To achieve accreditation Camden Safety Net demonstrated its commitment to good practice across all areas of its service delivery, including governance and finance, human resources, multi-agency working and frontline delivery. Services were evaluated by a national external accreditation panel, comprising of domestic violence sector and quality assurance professionals.
Councillor Abdul Hai, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Camden Council, said:
“Camden Safety Net provides a safe and supportive environment for victims and their family, and I am pleased that the quality of the service has been recognised in this way.”
