Latest: Hampstead solicitor joins Botham on charity walk

Posted by news desk in Local News, 5th March 2010, 2:29pm

A Hampstead solicitor will join Sir Ian Botham on the final leg of his special 25th anniversary charity walk for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research as a tribute to her husband's ongoing battle with leukaemia.

Rhian Radia, a mother-of-two, has been inspired to take part by the bravery of her husband, Milan, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy at The Royal Free Hospital. Milan, 38, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in November 2009 Radia is to meet with the former England cricket all-rounder at Hyde Park on 19 April for the final four miles of the walk.

Botham’s walk will begin outside Great Ormond Street Hospital and then walk through central London before arriving at Hyde Park where people can join him in exchange for fundraising. His walk will finish at the Marks & Spencer's store at Marble Arch.

Radia is determined to help Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research get closer to a cure for all blood cancers and is already well on the way to raising a fantastic total of  £7,000 in sponsorship to help the charity fund more groundbreaking research.

She said: "The research done so far has made a huge difference, but what people probably don't realise is that there are so many different types of blood cancer. We need to push on and make sure that everyone has access to the best possible treatments.”
